DIY zigbee temperature and humidity sensor with advanced functionality. (zigbee2mqtt)
In addition to the basic functionality for this type of sensors (transmitting temperature and humidity data via the zigbee protocol to the Smart Home system), this sensor can control another device in the zigbee network directly (binding), for example, such as a relay.
This allows you to control the operation of heating devices and fans without writing scripts on the side of the control unit.
To bind the device, using the example of working through the frontend of the zigbee2mqtt service, you need to go to the device page, open the binding tab and select from the list the device to which you want to bind the sensor and put a "bird" on the OnOff cluster.
In order to control other devices, the sensor needs additional functionality, it must be able to send commands to enable and disable, focusing on data about some threshold values. And he knows how to do it. The sensor configuration can be carried out via the UD or via the frontend of the zigbee2mqtt service. Again, using the example of frontend-a zigbee2mqtt, it is enough to go to the Exsposes tab and turn on temperature control, or humidity control, or both at once (for example, by tying to two different devices: a heater with temperature control and a fan with humidity control). Next, you will need to set the minimum and maximum thresholds for the enable and disable commands.
Thanks to such an extended functionality of a conventional temperature and humidity sensor, new and very convenient use cases appear, for example, my new zigbee sensor will soon replace the old one that works on the mysensors protocol and will control ventilation in the bathroom.
