Educational Cubesat Development Kit
The Cubesat Development Kit is a teaching aid designed to teach the fundamentals of satellite design, deployment and operation. It is a low cost satellite emulator, using AMSAT's Cubesat System, that runs on solar panels and batteries, transmits UHF radio telemetry, has a 3D printed frame, and can be extended by additional sensors and modules.
Australasian Youth Cubesat Initiative Limited is a charity working to inspire, support and empower the next generation through the facilitation of a student-led CubeSat satellite development program. This is underpinned by the rollout of educational outreach initiatives and public policy advocacy. Our mission is to bridge the gap between education and industry by enabling students to gain real world experience participating in a hands-on satellite development project.
These Cubesat kits will be used to teach and inspire younger students around the world to get them passionate about Space.
Overview
The Cubesat Development Kit has the following features:
- Working solar panels and rechargeable batteries
- Multi-channel voltage, current, and temperature telemetry transmitted in the Amateur Radio UHF band
- Telemetry decoding using FoxTelem software or APRS software
- STEM Payload board with Sparkfun Pro Micro or STM32F103C8T6 “Blue Pill” microcontroller & sensors
- Tape measure monopole, dipole, or SMA antenna
- Integrated Low Pass Filter
- New 3D printed frame and solar panels
Each kit is composed of three discrete PCBs:
The Main Board
The Battery Board
