Keithley 2000 Display Board Replacement with OLED

If you have one of those Digital Multimeter Keithley 2000 you are lucky, this is a fine and very precise instrument. But after the years the Vacuum Fluorescence Display may has gone dim, only hard to read anymore. Keeping the instrument in service will force you to buy a new VFD module named DD-52 as a replacement, but this is no longer available, Keithley will keep the rest of the final production for their own repair services. Since the narrow 14 segment display is not so nice anyway, the idea is to replace it with another and better to read display. There comes a graphic OLED display into consideration, where you can display the characters but generate the Annunciators also. The Keithley protocol to the front end display board has been evaluated including the data flow for the display and the keys. All the graphics for the ASCII characters and the Annunciators have been created according to the amount of resolution the OLED will give. The firmware for a µController capable of handling the Keithley protocol and managing the graphics controller have been generated. And finally there also is the layout of a replacement display board, electrically and mechanically fully compatible with the original Keithley Display Board. The result is very satisfying. You can assemble two different sizes of generally available OLED displays, 3.2 inch or 5.5 inch, in your preferenced color. You may change the display cover on the front case from a 80% to a 30% translucency one, to see more of the OLED.
