Tube Direct Box Preamplifier PCB
This is a tube direct box used for recording instruments, I myself play the bass guitar, and I wanted a high quality unit for home recording in this time of Covid. It was designed around a lot of components that I already had, including a 50 year old SE output transformer. The tubes are 6BQ7A which are a great medium mu triode often overlooked, so there are a lot of great black plate versions around for cheap. I have a box of them and I don't remember when, or why, I purchased them:). I used Takman carbon film non-magnetic resistors and WIMA polypropylene capacitors. I included a simple EQ circuit and a High and Low pass filter. The PCB's are excellent 2 ounce boards and conformed exactly to my design. I am amazed at the consistent high quality of PCBWAY. If you do tube designs with ground plane polygons please make sure you increase the clearance around your pads/tracks to ensure you don't get any arc over from the high voltage, and to decrease parasitic capacitance from slugging your bandwidth.
