How to Find Gold on Circuit Boards

PCB board printed circuit board

A printed circuit board can be considered the base of the modern computer. The circuit board is essentially the location of all the key components of the computer, and the network by which these components interact with each other. Modern printed circuit boards have small trace amounts of gold on a variety of components including processors and chips.

Instructions

1 Make a pile of the circuit boards you want to extract gold from, and break them into smaller pieces.

2 Place the pieces in the electronic mill. Be careful when doing so, and make sure that the mill is not on when you place the pieces in the device.

3 Turn the electronic mill on. Allow the mill to refine and break down the circuit board pieces into small components--like the size of table salt granules.

4 Sift through the product created by the electronic mill to find the gold.Gold will have shinier, yellowish tint in comparison to the other materials in the circuit board. There is very little gold in the average circuit board. At best, you can expect to harvest a tenth of a gram--but expect to find far less in the average circuit board.
