PCB Piezotronics offers signal conditioner for DC sensors

The Model 478A30 from PCB Piezotronics is a three-channel DC sensor signal conditioner with selectable gain. Designed for use with PCB’s Series 3991/3993 20,000-g high-amplitude, DC-response MEMS shock accelerometers, the Model 478A30 provides the end-user with a MEMS-based high-g shock measurement system that covers a frequency range from DC to 150 kHz.

With its automatic zero adjustment capability, the Model 478A30 eliminates the sensor’s inherent DC offset voltage. The signal conditioner features three independent operating channels with individual excitation voltage, selectable excitation voltage levels from 0 to 14 VDC, and differential output and gain adjustment from 0 to 999.9, as well as BNC output connectors for easy hookup to readout and recording instruments. The device can also be used with Series 3741 DC-response accelerometers.

Applications for a high-amplitude measurement system based on the Series 3991/3993 and accompanying Model 478A30 include crash and impact testing, drop testing, consumer electronic product testing, and weapons data-recorder testing.
