For users of the LCD model Valve Steam Deck (https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck), there may be times when the display quality is not quite satisfactory. In response, DeckSight has emerged, allowing users to replace the screen with a 1080P AMOLED display without making significant modifications to the Valve Steam Deck. DeckSight offers higher clarity, richer colors, and outstanding performance in black, surpassing standard LCD screens in nearly every aspect. Therefore, this upgrade is highly worthwhile for users.
There are both matte screen finish and glossy option to choose from
In addition to the high-quality OLED panel mentioned above, DeckSight also includes an integrated touch screen that is optically bonded to a custom cover glass, which is also essential to the upgrade. While specific specifications of DeckSight are still being tested, it is certain that it will offer higher peak brightness, refresh rate, and better battery life compared to the Steam Deck's LCD panel.
Installing the DeckSight is not particularly difficult, and the iFixit guide (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Steam+Deck+Screen+Replacement/148986) is very helpful for removing the LCD. Additionally, users should note that the new FPC ribbon cable is a redesigned component to ensure compatibility with the display panel.
Steam Deck requires a custom BIOS to use DeckSight, and users can find the BIOS patch utility in Shade Technik's GitHub repository. Additionally, the change is not permanent; if users wish to revert to the original configuration of the Valve Steam Deck, they can easily refresh the stock Steam Deck BIOS and reinstall the original LCD at any time.
