Please see the picture below. In the PCB file, the customer wrote a PCB EDGE with a line next to it, but it does not match the shape.
The customer replied that the line and characters can be deleted, but according to the component parameter table, the edge of the component is concave (not flat), and the PCB edge line must be used as the shape, otherwise it cannot be mounted.
In the crimped USB, the edges of the components are bent downward and are not flat. If the edge of the board is not designed according to the recommended design, the rear part will be up when soldering, making it impossible to solder.
After the customer updated the correct shape information, as shown in the figure below.
Summary: When encountering similar situations, please pay attention to verify clearly, sometimes the customer's response may not be accurate. In such a situation, it is necessary to consult the corresponding model at the same time for actual investigation, in case the patch cannot be mounted.
Other USB types
1. If the edge is flat, some are not mandatory to be designed on the edge of the board, such as USB4125-GF-A. Although there are suggested board edges in the design drawing, they are dashed and there is no mark on the board edges. This means that the board edge design is not mandatory.
2. The sinking USB requires a gong groove.
