PCB testing jig
The project uses a 32bit Microchip MCU to control the automatic testing process. The PCB assembly to be tested is placed on 4 guides and above a bed of pogo pins. A lever presses and holds down the unit to be tested so that approximately 30 special test points are connected to by the pogo pins. The double layer of pcb's makes sure that the guides and pogo pins are exactly square and make precise contact with the required test points. One of the test points signals to the test jig that the lever is locked down and through a colour touch LCD the operator starts the test. The test measures and test approximately 70 parameters in about 30 seconds and indicates a pass or fail. An appropriate label is then printed and the results automatically uploaded to servers on the other side of the world. The first models of the test jigs have now tested tens of thousands of units as they come of the production line with a success rate of 99.5% or more. Failures are most often caused by faulty components or incorrectly inserted ones. The PCBWay PCB's have been of a very high standard and produce a professional result. PCB's are double sided, 1.6mm.
