BulkyMIDI-32 Audio Switch
While working on the BulkyMIDI-32, an emulator for the Roland MT-32 based on the mt32-pi project, I had grown rather fond of the resulting form factor. So I wanted to design a few more devices in the same styling, but implementing various different functions that could be used by themselves. The Audio Switch allows you to connect up to six audio inputs to it, and by the press of a button you can connect one of them up to the single audio output that could then connect up to your stereo system. There's not even a MCU (microcontroller) involved, with the switching done by actual relays.
This is the main module, check out the related shared projects for a listing of all additional modules. While you can build a functional unit using this PCB alone, if you want to build a device as what is shown in the pictures - you'll additionally need the PCBs belonging to the following shared projects:
Beyond the BulkyMIDI-32 itself I've also expanded the project to include more standalone devices such as this Audio Switch. There's also a player for traditional MIDI-files (Play) and a sixteen channel monitor that lights up depending on MIDI-channel usage. If like me you grew up using software audio players looking like separate audio modules, now you can actually start building one in real life! A small demonstration is included below, but please excuse the audio quality as this was shot using my mobile phone.
