Floating Chess Board
I have decided to make my project as I was first captured by magnetic levitation when I saw it in a video a while ago. I thought to myself, what can I make with this that is an original idea, so I came up with this. It has been a roller coaster trying to figure out how to do this, trying to organize everything with the suppliers, and figuring out my BOM took the longest time. Actually putting it all together went quite smoothly, with minimal changes that needed to be made, such as spacing between the units. All the chess pieces and the case were 3D printed to allow for a custom fit and for all the sizes to match up with one another. How it works is there are 64 magnetic levitation devices underneath the chess board that can detect the chess pieces and turn on while a chess piece is on top of it. These all repel a magnetic which is within the base of the chess piece and result in the floating effect. I have also decided to make this as I am very interested in this field, want to gain more practical knowledge surrounding this topic, how to solve problems and create more variety of things.
