Low Cost Quad-copter (FC, RF receiver, etc.)
### DESCRIPTION
Hi...
This project is all about making a very affordable drone(quadcopter) and still while learning a lot.
I wanted to make a drone(quadcopter) but it becomes so expensive atleast for me as $200 is a big deal for me, and the main problem is the kits avalable in market have everything to assemble. So making a qaudcopter using a kit is not making it is actually just assembly of components.
So, Being an electronics student and hobbiyst, I thought of making most of the things required, by myself.
So in a quadcopter the thing that can't be easily created are Battery, ESCs, BLDC motors etc.
But the things that can be made easily and in a way less cost are "Flight controller", "RF receiver", "RF transmitter" etc.
So, in this project I've made a PCB (with which I'm participating in the contest as well), which has a Flight controller, RF receiver(using NRF24) and 2 PCBs of a PWM generator that can be used to test the BLDCs and a circuit of IR based obstacle detector array that can be used in any other project as well, for a hobbyist like me who like to be surrounded by electronic stuff, I made that PCB to use the remainig space of the PCB.
This design has 5 PCBs in total (all circuits are made on a single PCB to save PCB cost. They are very separated so that you can easily cut them apart by a dremel tool)-
Flight controller.
RF reciver.
2 PWM generator
IR based obstacle detector array.
### TECHNICAL DETAILS / COMPONENTS
Flight controller is based on ATmega328(SMD) that you could get from an arduino nano and a MPU6050 module(Not IC that will be hard to solder) also this will work on Miltiwii(an open source platform).
RF receiver is also based on ATmega328 and for RF communication it uses an NRF24 module.
PWM generator is based on simple 555 timer IC.
IR based obstacle detector array is based on LM358 dual cpmparator ICs.
Holes for screws are intentionally missing. Flight controller and RF receiver should be mounted with Double sided foam tape, that will provide a suspension too..
Using screws makie it heavy and then we have to use rubber screw pads to prevent FC from mechanical shocks.
### LEARN / TOPIC / BUILD INSTRUCTIONS
These all ciruits are very simple and using the linked BOM list you will be able to complete them if you have knowledge of basic electronics.
Let's accept the fact that these circuit are all over the internet I just made a PCB fulfilling my needs for making a quadcopter in cheap.
*NOTE- The PDF of all the schematics is attached(See the google drive Link).
### COST ANALYSIS
The Flight controller will cost you only round $3 - 4$ , if you order your parts wisely from a cheap source(like aliexpress) as i did.
RF receiver will cost you same as FC around $3 - $4.
PWM generator is way cheaper, around 1$ for one.
IR based obstacle detector array will cost around $2 - $3.

Thank you..
Well it is too late for an entry, But I think it's never late to start something good..
