5467 FTC Team Robot
Our project is a robot for the annual First Tech Challenge competition. Our team was able to achieve states last year, and had a total NPR in the 83rd percentile. This year we hope to one up our previous years' achievements and advance to worlds. This robot will utilize the linear slides to grab this year's game element the sample and specimen and score them. We are wanting to utilize 4 ultrasonic sensors which will be able to detect distance from the walls of the field which can then be used to localize our robot down to the millimeter
Our horizontal extension will be driven by linkages, which will be much faster as it only requires the motor to rotate 180 degrees to fully extend.
For our intake, we have also chosen the use of an active intake which would make funneling the samples and specimen into the robot much simpler.
Our outtake mechanism will be a claw which is able to grab from the intake mechanism then clip the sample onto a 1 inch pvc pipe.
In addition, with our extension mechanisms we have decided to utilize a singular axle throughout the entire robot connecting the 2 motors to ensure that both linear slides extend at the same rate, allowing for better control over extension accuracy.
