BAJA Blue Jay Racing: Data Acquisition System
Blue Jay Racing is Johns Hopkins University's Baja SAE team. We are a team of 25 undergraduate students that design and build a custom single-seat off-road vehicle to compete against over 200 other international teams each year. The vehicle is tested on multiple different categories, such as acceleration, sled pull, and endurance. We’ve had success in recent years, taking 1st in design and 4th in dynamics at the 2023 competitions, but we’re always looking for ways to further improve.
Our team consists of multiple sub-teams, each filled with passionate engineers from across a variety of majors dedicated to improving our vehicle and placing even higher at competitions. We've recently started a Data Acquisition (DAQ) team to aid in optimizing our mechanical design. In order to do so, we must be able to fit complex electronics into as small packages as possible, as well as have an option to quickly test individual components before assembly. The answer to both these problems is investing in PCBs. This is our reason for sponsorship request.
This board is a board we plan using for prototyping high speed communication on our off-road vehicle. Its design is based off the official Raspberry Pi CM4 IO board, but optimized for our uses. It allows our CM4 to communicate with our larger system of sensors and microprocessors.
We look forward to the potential of collaboration in this exciting journey. Thank you for considering our proposal.
