Jayhawk Motorsports EV FSAE 2025

JMS was founded in 1994 by a group of six KU mechanical engineering students.

Since then, JMS has grown to over 40 undergraduate and graduate students each year

across all disciplines of study. Team members represent several disciplines including

industrial design, business and accounting, engineering physics, computer science /p>

mechanical, chemical, aerospace, and electrical engineering. Jayhawk Motorsports has

been one of the leading contenders in the Formula SAE competitions with eight top five

finishes and two overall first place wins in 2012 and 2014, making the team one of two

worldwide to repeat wins at the FSAE Lincoln competition. JMS has been on the cutting

edge of FSAE innovation for decades as one of the earliest adopters of a carbon fiber

monocoque chassis and carbon fiber wheels and is now currently one of the few teams

worldwide to design and manufacture custom brake calipers and carbon fiber uprights.

This year, the team aims to complete a new combustion car. With the constant

innovations of electric cars going on around us, we decided we wanted to dive deep into

continuing the innovation on our electric car and delivering a one-of-a-kind competitor.

Such a complex engineering project would not be possible without the generous

support from our sponsors, who extend the capabilities of the project beyond our

resource and manufacturing limits. To produce high-quality and competitive race cars,

the project requires a substantial budget, largely consisting of generous donations from

both individuals and companies, small and large. Your contributions allow the team to

compete at the highest level amongst the best FSAE teams in the world and contribute

toward the success of future KU engineering graduates.
