Supermileage Electric Vehicle
DESCRIPTION
My name is Erik Alvarado and I am a fourth year electrical engineering major at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I am part of the Supermileage Vehicle Club which designs a fuel efficient vehicle every year to compete at the Shell Eco Marathon. This year, we want to build our first ever electric vehicle! I am tasked with building the motor controller for our brushless 3-phase motor.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Our motor controller consists of an evaluarion board by TI as well as a an integrated chip for the gate driver. This integrated driver will drive 6 MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration. We have op amps on the board for current feedback and also have voltage divider for voltage feedback. The algorithm to control the motor will be implemented using Code Composer Studio and we plan on using TI's examples to drive our motor. We will also have a few screw terminals to be able to have external inputs such as a potentiometer and switches to control the motor.
Words to PCBWay
The Supermileage team at Cal Poly would grealty appreciate it if PCBWay could sponsor the project so we could take our first electric vehicle to competition. We hope to place in the top 3 teams at the Shell Eco Marathon competition if we are able to get our vehicle operational.
