ÜLGEN ROCKET TEAM
Introduction
Established in 2018, the Ülgen Rocket Team garnered attention in 2019 with its achievement as a finalist in the low-altitude category, marking the reflection of our competitive spirit in those early days. However, this was just the beginning; between 2020 and 2022, our team further solidified its presence by securing finalist positions in the mid-altitude categories.
Our goal extends beyond a passion for high-powered rocketry; we are a dynamic community of enthusiastic rocket enthusiasts who have come together with a shared commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning. Our journey transcends the successes at the Teknofest Mid-Altitude Rocket Competition; our primary aim is to provide a robust learning experience for all team members that goes beyond mere competition.
As a team, we aspire to maximize the potential of each member by embracing a culture of mutual support, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This mission not only aims for excellence in rocket technologies but also in leadership, teamwork, and engineering skills.
The Ülgen Rocket Team is determined to contribute not only to competitions but also to shape advancements in science and technology through our contributions to rocket science. This text has been crafted to emphasize that our team is more than just a rocket competitor; it is a forward-thinking community dedicated to continuous learning and progress.
Our project
Our rocket has a structure with a length of 276 cm and a diameter of 13 cm. Our goal is to reach an altitude of 8,000 feet and deploy the parachute by triggering the avionics system at the apogee point. We have two different systems, each serving a specific purpose.
The first system is a proprietary design that we developed. It operates with a 9V Li-Ion battery and measures atmospheric pressure using a pressure altimeter. The obtained data, along with GPS information, is transmitted to the ground station. This system has a unique topology designed in-house to fit our specific needs.
On the other hand, the second system uses a commercial altimeter and has its own distinct topology. This system provides a backup to enhance the overall reliability of our avionics setup. The commercial altimeter is integrated into our rocket system, increasing our ability to monitor and control the descent accurately
Working together, both systems provide a comprehensive approach to avionics. Combining our custom-designed solution with a commercial altimeter adds a layer of redundancy for increased safety and leverages the strengths of both systems to enhance the overall performance and reliability of our rocket.
PCB details
The design of our flight computer has been implemented using the Altium application as a double-layer configuration. We have two separate systems, avionics, and payload, each employing different sensors. Therefore, the aim is to create an appropriate system design. Below are the images of the PCB intended to be manufactured by PCBWAY.
Support Requested:
