Printed circuit boards, or PCBs, are flat, layered items designed to hold electronic components, such as microchips, in place. These items have played an important role in technology since the 1960s. With technology advancing at rapid speeds, old PCBs become outdated. Recycling them can often cause additional pollution because of the materials the PCBs are made of. Instead, reuse them by creating a work of art. Instructions 1 Measure the size of PCB piece you have, and record these numbers. 2 Draw a template for a star on a piece of poster board or cardstock paper, taking the PCB measurements into consideration. Use a ruler to make your lines as straight as possible. 3 Cut out the star template using a craft knife or scissors. 4 Place the template onto the PCB and trace around it with a marker. Use a dark color so it shows against the typical green color of the PCB. 5 Score the lines from the tracing with a glass cutter to create grooves in the material. Cut the star shape from the PCB using the lines as a guide. PCB thats grooved deeply snaps along the line when bent. Use a mini tabletop saw as an alternative. 6 Sand the edges with fine-grit paper to remove rough edges left from the cutting process.
