PCB offers acoustic sensors for automotive testing

The Automotive Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics has released a series of array microphones designed expressly for use in automotive testing applications, including legislative certification, quality control, and system and component performance. The devices can also be used for vehicle and powertrain NVH measurements, such as powertrain noise, wind noise, road noise, acoustic holography, sound quality, brake squeal, and squeak and rattle.

PCB acoustic sensors have an integral preamplifier and include a TEDS-compatible option to allow for high channel counts and greater traceability, as well as conformance with the IEEE 1451.1 standard. Microphones operate from the same constant-current source required for ICP accelerometers, enabling the use of PCB microphones alongside ICP accelerometers in the same test and minimizing setup time. A full complement of low-noise ICP and high-temperature preamplifiers and accessories for automotive applications is also available.
