Any advice on changing an IR receiver to push buttons.

This is an LED driver which controls an LED strip with a remote and can change the colors/intensity of the lights. It supplies 12v to the LEDs.

I want to know if it is possible to replace the IR receiver with 3 push buttons controlling the red/green/blue. An additional button may be needed to turn it on/off.

It would allow me first of all to save some battery energy as I plan on making this project portable and would also have a minimalistic esthetic because you would only have 3 buttons instead of needing an extra remote. Any suggestions are warmly welcomed! Thanks!

    Hello! since theoretically the PIC should do dual function of IR decoder and RGB power driver control, so serial EEPROM I presume it keeps in memory last known settings RGB pwm value, probably there would be no free pins on mcu to connect direct pushbuttons over the PIC IR rx input signal pin by cloning the original remote control with a homemade RGB control burst signal with another programmed MCU pcb controlled by desired pushbuttons. by gluing together remote control and this receiver / driver cases, it would be appropriate to replace with some tests and experiments the IR connection devices with an optocoupler device and again the same remote control functions as pushbuttons...

    Hi Frank, these work on 433 MHz RF not IR. Can you please let me know the numbers on U1 and U2?

    Thanks fo replying. I thought they were IR. There is no numbers on U1 but on U2 there is "ATMHK218 24CO2N SU27 D".

    Hi Frank, sorry you are correct. I researched a bit and saw that they are indeed IR. U1 is a PIC and U2 an EEPROM.
