Hey! This is very difficult to diagnose in a reply on this PCBWay project site. Because I have so many questions, and you replies are also very important. I mean there will be a lot of talking back and forward. Do you use Discord? If you join my channel there are a lot of people who built a FreeTouchDeck and using the combiner board. And of course I am there. So we can have a conversation. Join my Discord server here: https://discord.gg/RE3XevS and I recommend to use the #FreeTouchDeck channel, which is especially created for these kind of issues. Hope to see you there!

  • I'm a noob to this site, but something seems wrong. The picture of the PCB shows an "ESP32 + TFT Combiner" - a very simple 2-layer PCB for mounting a thru-hole ESP32 and a thru-hole connection for the TFT. But, both the Gerber download and the "Add to Cart" yield a different design by the name of W140649ASV18_ESP32_TFT_REV_0 which appears to be a completely different PCB intended for a bunch of SMD parts. I came here by way of the Instructibles page https://www.instructables.com/A-Bluetooth-ESP32-TFT-Touch-Macro-Keypad/ looking for the simple 2-layer PCB. The Instructibles page also links to a GitHub page which has what appears to be the correct source for the simple, 2-layer, thru-hole design. I would have expected this PCBWay page to match the design: A) shown in the picture, and B) hosted on GitHub. Am I being an idiot?

Ow no! That is absolutely not correct! PCBWay has shared the wrong file! I have changed this immediately!

Damit.... I order mine on 12/11 and just arrive today. No thru-hole esp32 mounting. Dustin, was this board W140649ASV18_ESP32_TFT_REV_0 usable for this project. I am going to see if I can get the correct board name.

Hi I ordered one of these a week agoo and had the same problem! I recieved 5 board which had a whole bunch of very small solder headers.. how do I order the correct one?

    Dustin Watts 2020-12-19 02:49:01Reply

Hi Eric, I'm so sorry this has happened. No it is not usable. But... I'm going to make sure you get the correct board. If you send me an email (dustin_watts@yahoo.com) I will a) pay you back what you have paid or b) get pcbway to send you the correct version.

Hi Shaw, this project is now updated with the correct version. However, I understand that you do not want to pay for another order. If you send me an email (dustin_watts@yahoo.com) I will get you your money back, or if you want I'll make sure PCBWay send you the correct boards. I will pay for them!

Same thing happened to me. Got the boards and was about to assemble for gifts this weekend and discovered that the wrong boards were sent.

Same happened to me, ordered 2020/12/5, no PCB received yet but as ordered earlier I will have t he same problem.

Here's the bad news. I working with sweetie at PCB,confirmed the new board designed. They were very fast mfg and shipping. Boards arrived last night, HOWEVER, the spacing on the ESP32 drill thru holes are too far apart. From my research they should be 25.4mm on center. I tried bending my ESP32 to reach but after they reach the holes, they are too bent to insert. Reaching out to PCBway to see what happended here.

    Dustin Watts 2020-12-26 02:40:45Reply

Hi @Eric. I just replied to your email. The spacing between the inner rows is 1000mil (25.4mm) which is according to spec. If that is not what you measure tthen there might be an issue during manufacturing. Although I can't imagine that! But let's figure it out anyway!

    Eric Olson 2020-12-30 21:20:48Reply

Everything is fine. I was NOT using devkit C version of ESP32.

Hate to jump on the bandwagon but I too received 5 boards for the wrong project (ordered 9th December 2020 - received yesterday). Might be time to have another word with PCBWay. Is there a way to get the correct board ordered?
