Low Cost 5.1 Amplifier LM1876
This is my DIY try make low cost 5.1 home theatre amplifier using 3pcs of LM1876.
It have onboard 5.1 signal processor that can split stereo signal into 5.1 and then the output signal amplified by the LM1876 ic.
It can produce 6x20Watt for powering your 5.1 home theatre passive speaker.
I design this low cost 5.1 amplifier with simple design and use SMD components to make it compact and cheap as a "low cost amplifier".
This 5.1 low cost Home Theatre amplifier have some output :
- Front left and right channel with wide stereo, then amplified by single LM1876 ic.
- Center channel work from L+R and have a bandpass filter to make good dialogue on movie, then amplified by 1/2 of the LM1876 ic
- Surround/rear channel, the signal substracted L-R and R-L and it still in a stereo so that can produce correct position of sound , and it filtered by 7KHz lowpass filter then amplified by single LM1876 ic.
- The last is subwoofer channel with subwoofer freq adjustment so you can easily match your speaker. The subwoofer signal amplified by 1/2 of LM1876 ic .
The subwoofer output limited 20Watt so you need to use max. 6 inch speaker. But if you need more power you can connect the subwoofer out to active subwoofer by "high input" on your active subwoofer system.
This 5.1 amplifier need symmetrical supply 18V-0-18V from transformer, at least about 5Ampere.
