Police Light Flasher
This project was to make a flashing strobe circuit that is similar to what emergency vehicles have for use in train layouts, rc cars, etc. The circuit is designed around a dual 555 timer chip running through a quad NAND gate to create the alternating rapid flash between two outputs. The NAND gates can source and sink the current so by reversing the polarity of the LED's you can get short "On" bursts with a long "Off" pause and/or long "On" time with short "Off" bursts. By having the Red/Blue LEDs in the normal polarity and headlights/taillights in reverse polarity will create a complete effect.
