Precision Braille Printer with Threaded Motion Control
Our Project Aims on cutting the cost of Braille Printers to help the not so fortunate people could afford the privilege of Education. It is a Relief to most of the Blinds as well as the Braille Industry, as Braille printers in the Market costs so much more that people can not afford to use them.
The project consists of a set up using Arduino Uno and CNC shield Mounted upon it, this setup continuously takes input G-code from the PC and calibrates it to perform the required motion. The PC is operating for input from the user, we have used 2 python codes for it. First code is consists of GUI which takes the input text from the User and sends it to the Second code. What second code does is to convert the text to braille dots and then convert it to the G-code for the same. After the G-code is generated the code checks if the serial communication is connected with the Arduino setup. For Embossing upon the sheet of paper, we have used a Solenoid Push-Pull that has a embossing pin attached to it. The Design is made such a way that the Pully moves in Y-axis Direction and the Rod beneath the pully moves in the X-axis Direction. The Solenoid does not use Z-axis for embossing rather we have used coolant pin of the CNC shield, as it was much more reliable than Z-axis control. In short, when the user gives an input in the form of text it is converted into G-code , which is read by the Arduino having GRBL Firmware uploaded to it, and controls the Pully motion by controlling Stepper Motors to get the desired Output upon the Paper.
