The MechBoard64
The MechBoard64 is a drop-in replacement mechanical keyboard for your original Commodore 64 home computer. It will work in concordance with all the different versions of motherboards available, including the new motherboards (C64 Reloaded MK1+2 and Ultimate64). The MechBoard64 is based on quality microswitches, a sturdy aluminum bracket, a printed circuit board (PCB) and a multicolored ribbon cable for connecting the keyboard to the C64 hardware. The MechBoard64 also has a small electrical circuit that will add the functionality of the Shift Lock key but without the need for a latching microswitch like the Cherry Locking switch. Whenever the Shift Lock key is pressed, a bright LED will light up underneath the keycap to indicate its current state (on or off).

Hi Jonathan, I would recommend that you simply send the .STL file to a 3D printing store near you. The 3D printing file can be downloaded on the breadbox64.com website along with all the files needed for the MechBoard64 build. The link to the files can be found in the main text on top of this page. On the breadbox64.com website you'll also find instructions on what 3D printing technique that is recommended :o) Good luck with the project! \MtnBuffalo
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment and congrats on your build. Happy to year that you managed to get it all done without any major issues :o) \MtnBuffalo
I've built three of them now, one with Perifractic's Lego keys and another to user with my MiSTer through a Keyrah. They work great!
Hi Syed, no it is just for the PCB-part of the keyboard. You'll need to source a keyboard bracket, Cherry mx style microswitches, keycap adapters, keyboard stabilizers parts and keycaps yourself :)
