The SEGA Neptune. Originally conceived as a Genesis and 32X system combined into a single console, it unfortunately never saw the light of day. As a massive SEGA fan, my goal is to bring this amazing system back to life by providing a replacement shell that can be swapped with a standard US or EU Genesis/Megadrive 2.
Simply unscrew your existing Genesis 2 console (preferably one that has been damaged externally) and replace the below listed parts with my new 3D printed offerings to turn your console into a Neptune!
Check out Macho Nacho Productions excellent video build:
SEGA CANCELED this console in 1995, so I made one in 2023 | SEGA Neptune
Bill of Materials:
Genesis 2 Shell Base - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Shell Base
Genesis 2 Shell Top - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Shell Top
Genesis 2 Shell Extension Slot Cover - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Shell Extension Slot Cover
Genesis 2 Cartridge Flap 1 - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Cartridge Flap 1
Genesis 2 Cartridge Flap 2 - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Cartridge Flap 2
Genesis 2 Power Button - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Power Button - And - DVIZIX Neptune Power Button Attachment
Genesis 2 Reset Button - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Reset Button - And - DVIZIX Neptune Reset Button Attachment
Genesis 2 LED Attachment - Replace with - DVIZIX Neptune Power LED Attachment Part 1 - And - Part 2
All the above listed items are required to complete the Neptune Console.
It is recommended that the "Part Assembly" option be selected at the time of ordering so that the parts can be assembled and tested before the shipment.
**For those that wish to perform the Genesis+32X combined mod, you will need the following items depending on the build method:
Longhorn Build - A documented process that requires a high skill level
The internal components should leave just enough room for bracket mounted dust flaps. In this case you will need to purchase this modified bracket which is a reduced version of the existing Genesis one:
DVIZIX Neptune Reduced Cartridge Flap Mount
The Modular Build - A modular approach that is less destructive and reversible
Although less destructive, the downside is the amount of space taken up by the modular components. In this case you will need to purchase this imitation dust cover which are both flaps fused together that simply rest in place:

*** DISCLAIMER ***
- This is a passion project designed by hobbyists for hobbyists. All dimensions have been scaled by me using an EU model Megadrive 2 and as such details and quality will depend greatly on the material chosen.
- This is designed to be a shell replacement for a Genesis/Megadrive 2 and as such will continue to function as a Genesis/Megadrive 2 only.
- Although this is designed to replicate the Neptune as can best be obtained by images and video of the prototype, the placement of ports, buttons, size and thickness of the console is still dictated by the Genesis 2’s integrated components and therefore a complete imitation of the system cannot be achieved.
- To integrate a working 32X system within this replacement shell would require the expertise of others with all the associated risks involved.
- The current revision of this Neptune shell is designed to be a replacement for the "push down" on/off button system, not the "left/right" switch action button that is used on the Japanese version.
- Please DO NOT throw away your old Genesis/Megadrive 2 shell. Any examples of these amazing old systems should be preserved and enjoyed hence my goal to create a console that is as easy to modify as it is to revert back to its original form without any destructive methods.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated to further improve the shell design for future revisions.
Happy Modding!

Hi. Unfortunately I won't be releasing the 3D files at this time.
So, can i buy the Neptune printed plastic parts? The same as the Macho Nacho neptune video?
Yes they are all here in the above list. Just click on the shopping cart for each item.
Thank you my friend!
Hi Thanks for getting in touch. I understand you may wish to buy the whole thing but there are parts listed above that may depend on the type of build you wish to do. For example, you may wish only to re-shell your Genesis/Megadrive as a cosmetic change. For this I would purchase all listed items EXCEPT the ones listed "For Longhorn Mod" and "For Modular Mod". If you wish to integrate a 32X into your build you first need to investigate what type of build you want to pursue, for example, "The Longhorn" or "Modular build". If doing the Modular build (such as the one performed by Macho Nacho on YouTude) you do not need the items listed as "Cartridge Flap 1" and "Cartridge Flap 2". I hope this helps. Separating parts also gives people the option to choose a combination of finishes. Unfortunately, depending on people's personal choices it is difficult to provide an all-in-one solution. I may however consider separating these shared projects by the type of build so people can just select the full list of items. Your feedback is always welcome!
For those interested in building a Sega Neptune, I can help with the professional labor of assembling the 32x hardware on the Sega Genesis, I am a senior electronics technician, my contacts WhatsApp Brazil +55 21 997842941 and email vandresoares2020@gmail.com
Hi. The shell has been designed to maintain much of it's compatibility with the Mega CD via the expansion slot but actually integrating the system would require the expertise of others I'm afraid. The shell was originally designed as a cosmetic replacement for the Genesis/Megadrive. It was experienced people like @PCBAssembly99 who got in touch with me to work out the requirements for his build integrating the 32X. I am of course open to all these new projects so maybe I can make this work together with the right people. Thank you.
