Z180 "Brains" system Board-1
I have been working on this for some years, This is the first in a set of boards that i hope to add on and make a Vintage Z80 set of 3 systems .
all the systems run very similar hardware so i think this may just work out. but you can use this as a starting point to make your own Z80/Z180 system board.
The Main board i have labeled as the "Brains" board-1 and holds the Power unit 5v dc to 3.3v, The PLLC socket for a CPU i chose the 10Mhz version of the Z180, i have added a power on reset with manual button & the 14pin package crystal.
It has 512Kb of S-Ram and also the Breakout Header for the next board or your own Breakout board, as all signals are on the header pins. There is also a small connector for a PI or Programmer to put data into the board if needed.
There is an option to power the PI board from the 3.3v on the small header but don't power board from the PI's Power.....as it needs 5v
as well as 3.3v You have been warned !!!!
So i hope this will help a few people looking at building there own Z80/Z180 PC system. please keep an eye out form more updates as i find time for.. and let me know what you have done with it and your addon's.
" Note:" 1: i Have done a minor update.. with a 5v pin on header. (7/10/2024)
2: added 4 x ground points for scope testing to board. (19/10/2024)
