The idea for this project comes from another maker called seanhodgins. He made an addressable 7 segment display using ws2811 IC. I want to take this concept to the next level. So I designed this 16 segment display which can display numbers and Alphabets so by using multiple of this boards it can display any digits and words.

To drive this display I used ESP-12E module which is a wifi enabled microcontroller so you can change text and letters wirelessly.

But ESP-12E doesn't have 16 output pins to drive 16 segments leds so I arrange the LEDs in a 4x4 matrix format therefore we need only 8 pins(4 pins for the row and 4 pins for the columns) to run all 16 leds. The board has a button also that can be use to change the alphabets.

the board is almost the size of an actual 16 segment display of only 24x32mm. so It can be wear as a badge.

It has pads for programming the wifi module.
