Arjuna EV AF05 Power Distribution Unit
Arjuna EV UGM is Indonesia’s first and only Formula Student Electric Vehicle (FSAE EV) team, proudly representing Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on the global stage. Since our founding, we have been dedicated to advancing electric vehicle technology and fostering innovation in sustainable mobility. Our journey in Formula Student began in 2017, and over the years, we have competed in several FSAE events such as FSAE Japan (2017, 2019) and FSAE Australasia (2023). These experiences have allowed us to continuously refine our engineering expertise and push the boundaries of our electric race car’s performance.
This year, our primary goal is to compete at FSAE Japan 2025, further proving our capabilities in the international arena. Our participation in FSAE Australasia 2023 provided us with valuable insights, and we are now focused on optimizing our vehicle’s performance, efficiency, and reliability to achieve even greater results.
One of the key improvements in our electrical system this year is the Power Distribution Unit (PDU), which serves as a reliable 12V power source for the vehicle’s low-voltage systems. Designed for efficiency, safety, and reliability, our PDU integrates a step-down converter to regulate power while ensuring stable voltage output across all components.
To enhance system protection, we have developed custom safety circuits that prevent overcurrent, short circuits, and reverse polarity, ensuring the integrity of the vehicle’s electrical system under all conditions.
A key feature of our upgraded PDU is its modular design, consisting of two separate boards: the PDU Board and the Rear Sensor Module (RSM). The PDU Board is responsible for power distribution and incorporates protection circuits to maintain system stability. Meanwhile, the RSM functions as a data logging unit, collecting sensor inputs such as RPM, suspension travel, and PDU power usage from the rear of the vehicle. This modular approach enhances connection reliability, ensuring a more robust electrical system, while also making the design more space-efficient within the compact packaging of a Formula Student car.
By refining our PDU with enhanced protection, monitoring, and modularity, we are ensuring a robust and reliable power system, directly contributing to the performance and success of our vehicle at FSAE Japan 2025.
We at Arjuna EV UGM believe our project offers an invaluable opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on engineering experience and prepare for future careers in the industry. High-quality PCBs are critical to our vehicle’s performance, and we would be incredibly grateful for PCBWay’s support in providing them. Without the help of sponsors like PCBWay, our journey wouldn’t be possible. We’re proud to offer the sponsorship perks outlined in our package or accommodate any specific requests you may have. We’re excited about the possibility of collaborating with PCBWay to enhance our electric race car and make a lasting impact in Formula Student competitions.
