BRACU MAXIMA

Founded in 2022, BRACU MAXIMA is a dedicated line-following robot team from BRAC University, Bangladesh. The team competes in various line-follower robot events across the country, striving for excellence in robotics technology. Composed of passionate members from several departments such as Electronics, IT, and R&D. BRACU MAXIMA is committed to pushing the boundaries of robotic automation and precision.

Recently, the team has designed the 6th version of their line-follower robot, integrating advanced Machine Learning algorithms to enhance the robot's movement accuracy and path calculation. This iteration also features EEPROM for dynamic value storage and modification and operates with its operating system for improved performance. Equipped with a six-channel IR array and powered by the ATMEGA328p MCU, this robot benefits from a custom-designed PSU and motor driver, showcasing the team's innovation and technical prowess.

 1. Microcontroller Unit (MCU):

The heart of BRACU MAXIMA's line-follower robot is the ATMEGA328p microcontroller unit (MCU). This MCU is widely recognized for its efficiency and versatility in robotics applications. It operates with an input voltage range of 1.8 to 5.5 volts, making it suitable for a variety of power sources. The output voltage typically corresponds to the operating voltage, ensuring stable and reliable performance of connected components. The ATMEGA328p features a rich set of I/O ports, which facilitate communication with sensors, motor drivers, and other peripheral devices, enabling precise control and responsive behavior in our robot.

2. EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory):

In the latest version of our robot, we have incorporated EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) to enhance its functionality. EEPROM allows us to store data such as path values and configuration settings that need to persist even when the robot is powered off. This capability is crucial for non-volatile storage applications, enabling our robot to retain learned path information and operational parameters without constant reprogramming. With EEPROM, our robot can adapt and optimize its performance over time, leading to more efficient and reliable navigation.

3. Remembering the Path:

One of the key features of BRACU MAXIMA's line-follower robot is its ability to remember the path it has traveled. This is achieved through the use of EEPROM, which stores the path values and other crucial data even when the robot is powered off. By retaining this information, the robot can quickly resume its operation without the need to relearn the path, significantly improving its efficiency and responsiveness. This memory function is particularly beneficial in complex environments where the robot needs to navigate the same route multiple times, ensuring consistent performance and reducing the need for manual recalibration.

4. Auto Calibration:

To enhance the precision and adaptability of our robot, we have implemented an auto-calibration feature. This capability allows the robot to automatically adjust its sensors and movement parameters in real time, optimizing its performance based on the current conditions of the line and the surrounding environment. The auto-calibration process involves using the six-channel IR array to continuously monitor the line's position and make necessary adjustments to the robot's speed and direction. This ensures that the robot can maintain accurate line-following behavior, even in variable lighting or surface conditions, thereby increasing its reliability and effectiveness in diverse scenarios.

BRACU MAXIMA continues to strive for excellence, leveraging cutting-edge technology and fostering a collaborative environment to inspire future generations in the field of robotics.

With the support of PCBWay, the team could develop more efficient and effective robotic technology, further advancing their projects and inspiring the next generation of robotics enthusiasts.
