Banyubramanta ITS-Underwater Robotic Team: "Naru Musa"

Introduction

The Banyubramanta Team is an underwater robotics team from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia. Our latest project is an Autonomous Underwater Robot (AUR) named "Naru Musa," designed to compete in the Indonesian Underwater Robot Contest (KRBAI) 2024 in Solo, Indonesia and Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) 2024 . "Naru Musa" has previously won first place and the best strategy award in KRBAI, and successfully reached the top 7 in the Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) 2024. This robot is built to perform various underwater tasks autonomously, such as exploration, data collection, and mission execution in competitive environments.

Objectives and Innovations

The main objective of the "Naru Musa" project is to develop an underwater robot that can operate autonomously with high efficiency and safety. By using the Research and Development (RnD) approach, we continuously innovate to improve various aspects of this robot’s design and technology.

Key features of the "Naru Musa" robot include:

Payload Dropping System: This feature is designed to accurately drop a ball to the bottom of a water body using a solenoid mechanism that ensures the ball (payload) drops steadily.

Chassis and Waterproofing System: The chassis is made of Aluminum, which provides excellent corrosion resistance and strength. The waterproofing system uses silicone seals to ensure that all components inside the robot remain protected from water leaks.

Multidirectional Thrusters: Equipped with 7 thrusters, "Naru Musa" can move in 6 degrees of freedom (sway, surge, heave, yaw, roll, pitch), allowing it to perform complex maneuvers underwater.

Electrical Protection System: The robot includes kill switches and emergency switches to ensure safe operations, both for the robot and its operators.

Development Method

The development of "Naru Musa" follows the RnD methodology to improve existing technologies and create new solutions for technical challenges. Every aspect of the robot, from mechanical and electrical systems to software, is rigorously tested to ensure optimal performance during competitions. The "Naru Musa" has undergone numerous upgrades compared to previous versions, including improvements in mechanical design, electrical systems, and software, to ensure it can complete all assigned missions.

We at Banyubramanta ITS are passionate about pushing the boundaries of underwater robotics. Our Autonomous Underwater Robot, "Naru Musa," has achieved significant milestones, including winning first place and the best strategy award at KRBAI and reaching the top 7 at SAUVC 2024 in Singapore. To continue innovating and competing internationally, we need the support of a trusted partner like PCBWay. High-quality PCBs are crucial for ensuring the reliable performance of our robot in challenging underwater conditions. With PCBWay's support, we can elevate "Naru Musa" to new heights, showcasing PCBWay as our valued sponsor, inspiring future engineers, and advancing robotics technology together.
