Design, model and manufacture Formula One racing

Competition Introduction with related photos:
Formula Student Bharath an international competition, with the objective of designing, modelling and fabricating a Formula One type racing car. This event is scheduled to take place in 2017 at Buddh International Circuit( Indian GP circuit ), Noida.

Community Introduction with related Community activity photos:

Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria as listed below. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations.

Project Introduction:

We are the ‘Team Road Runner’ - a student led Formula SAE team comprising of students from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.  We are participating in the Formula Student, an international competition, with the objective of designing, modelling and fabricating a Formula One type racing car. This event is scheduled to take place in 2017 at Buddh International Circuit( Indian GP circuit ), Noida and further hope to participate in Formula Student event at Silverstone, UK. We students are in constant need of funds to complete our race car.
Over the past year Team Roadrunner has been at the forefront of many exciting changes. We have been doing extremely well at national level competition, the Supra-SAE( //suprasaeindia.org/ ). Our latest performance at the qualifying rounds of Formula Student India (FSI-2016) and Supra 2015 has just gone to show that. We managed to bag the ‘Innovation Award’ at the recently concluded Supra competition and second place in the virtual round of FSI. This year we’d like to raise our bar even further up and take our race car to the next level, solidifying India's and NIT-Rourkela's badge in the world of Formula Student.

We acknowledge that this not our Institute Domain id. We are purely a student organisation. We seek your support.
Project Details
These are the components on our car that require a PCB.
1.Pneumatic Gear Shifter and Clutch- A circuit that distributes 12Vdc and current to the pneumatic solenoid valve using MOSFETs for switching to control regulated air supply to the pneumatic cylinder.
2.Data acquisition- Data are collected from various sensors on the car, few already installed on the engine, and some manually added for more parameters. Various data include: Speed of the car, GPS Location, Fuel Level, Radiator Fan Status, Battery Voltage, Coolant temperature, Engine RPM, Brake Lines’ Pressure, Longitudinal and Lateral Acceleration. All the data are collected on a microcontroller unit on the car like Arduino and transmitted using NRF module.
3.Power distribution module- A circuit to distribute power using power mosfets and power opto-couplers for power distribution from battery to injector coils, ignition coils, E.C.U and fuel pump and kill switch functions.
4.In-House Dashboard- A circuit comprising of a TFT LCD screen and signals from buttons for up-shift, down-shift, clutch ( PNEUMATIC ) and LAUNCH CONTROL.

WE are also planning on doing TRACTION CONTROL this year in our vehicle to be the first FSAE team of india to do so.
