Formula Gama Racing Mark V

What is your project about?

Our project is the Fórmula Gama Racing (FGR), an electric Formula SAE team based at the University of Brasilia. We design, manufacture, and race an electric formula-style vehicle to compete in the Formula SAE competition. This project combines engineering, innovation, and teamwork to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology while preparing students for real-world engineering challenges.

Why did you decide to make it?

Our mission is to develop highly skilled engineers through hands-on experience, enhancing their technical knowledge and leadership skills. By building a fully electric race car, we aim to contribute to the advancement of sustainable mobility solutions. The project also enables us to connect with industry leaders, build professional networks, and create impactful innovations.

How does it work?

Our electric vehicle is powered by a high-voltage battery pack, which supplies energy to the motor controller. The controller manages power delivery to the electric motor, ensuring precise torque control for optimal performance. To enhance driver safety and system reliability, we incorporate a Battery Management System (BMS), which monitors cell voltages, temperatures, and overall battery health. Our custom-designed PCB boards play a crucial role in connecting and protecting these systems, ensuring efficient energy flow and communication between components.

We leverage advanced design tools to optimize our car's structure, aerodynamics, and powertrain performance. The manufacturing process combines 3D printing, CNC machining, and composite materials to create lightweight yet durable parts.
