LED Panel - Icarus UFRJ Formula SAE

Firstly, I would like to do a breif introduction of our groupe: Icarus UFRJ Formula SAE Team, we are a passionate and talented group of students from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) united by our goal to design, build, and race a high-performance formula-style car. With a focus on innovation, student development and low cost projects, we leverage our diverse skills and expertise to push the boundaries of automotive engineering.

The development of an LED panel for the car's dashboard, indicating the stability of oil pressure, electrical system, and neutral gear, is of utmost importance. The way it works is by checking neutral and oil pressure sensors from the motor and verifying if the eletrical switch is in on or off state, lighting up a LED. It provides the driver with real-time information about the car's condition and alerts them if there are any problems.

Recognizing the need for improved reliability, our team made the decision to develop the LED panel on a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) for enhanced durability and a protective 3D case, modeled in SolidWorks that will be placed in the dashboard. After experiencing issues with the previous circuit board designs, which led to breakages, we sought a more robust solution. By using a PCB, we can ensure a higher level of reliability, as it provides better structural integrity and electrical connectivity. This strategic decision demonstrates our commitment to delivering a high-quality product that can withstand the demanding conditions of automotive environments.
