Prom Racing Team designing single-seater Formula car
PROM Racing FSAE Team
Founded in 2008, PROM Racing is a team of passionate engineering students from the National Technical University of Athens, driven to design, build, and race innovative electric vehicles for international Formula Student competitions. Our team has successfully developed eight race cars, including four powered by internal combustion engines and four fully electric, showcasing our dedication to cutting-edge automotive engineering.
PROM Racing has achieved impressive results on the world stage, most notably winning 1st place at Formula Student Czech Republic in 2021. This victory contributed to our team ranking 15th globally in 2022, a milestone that reflects our commitment to excellence. Over the years, we have consistently maintained our position as the top-performing Formula Student team in Greece.

This video offers a unique view into the hard work, dedication, and unforgettable moments that define our team’s passion and drive.
Looking ahead, PROM Racing is excited to continue innovating and pushing boundaries in vehicle design and performance, fostering a collaborative environment where students from diverse engineering disciplines can come together to tackle complex challenges in electric mobility. With each new project, we aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and remain at the forefront of automotive technology.
Thus, PCBs have been a crucial part of our race car throughout the years. More specifically, our project incorporates the following critical PCB systems:
- Hybrid Power Distribution Unit (PDU): In our hybrid concept, we manage power from both our accumulator and a separate low-voltage battery, regulating complex power flow and switching.
- Inverter PCB: The High Voltage PCB is equipped with IGBTs, crucial for converting the high-voltage energy from our 600V battery pack to a suitable level for our electric motors, ensuring efficient energy transfer and performance. The Low Voltage PCB, on the other hand, is responsible for the control concept.
- Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): Our VCU features advanced processing capabilities for both driver-driven and autonomous functions.
- Accumulator PCB: This board ensures efficient power management and safety monitoring, facilitating smooth energy flow throughout the system.
- Dashboard & Custom LCD Monitor: Our dashboard provides real-time data to drivers, enhancing control and situational awareness, while our custom dashboard LCD display offers clear visual feedback on vehicle status and diagnostics, improving the debugging process.
The support of PCBWay would be invaluable to our team. As we strive to create innovative racing vehicles, efficient sourcing and rapid prototyping of components are critical. Enhanced prototyping capabilities would enable more team members to engage in hands-on design experience, enriching their skills while improving the overall vehicle's performance & reliability.
