Quasi-Direct Actuator with Integrated Cycloidal Drive

This project, initiated at the University of Applied Sciences Aachen, focuses on the design and development of a quasi-direct actuator that integrates a cycloidal drive directly into the motor assembly. The goal is to create a compact, efficient, and high-performance system that combines the benefits of a direct-drive motor with the torque amplification of a gear system.

The integration of the cycloidal drive within the motor housing allows for a significant reduction in size and weight, making the system ideal for applications in robotics, exoskeletons, and other advanced machinery. This design achieves high torque output with minimal backlash while maintaining exceptional precision and energy efficiency, addressing key challenges in actuator design.

One of the main hurdles is the precise fabrication of the cycloidal drive components, which requires advanced CNC machining to meet tight tolerances. Support in manufacturing these parts would be invaluable in realizing the project's potential and achieving the desired performance characteristics.

Looking ahead, the project aims to contribute to the advancement of compact and efficient actuation technologies, providing a foundation for innovative applications in robotics and automation.
