STAR UC3M (Student team for aerospace and rocketry)

We are a team of students who design, fabricate and launch reusable rockets. We participate yearly in EuRoC, competing against rocketry teams from other European countries. The team is formed by more than 60 students from all engineering fields, including computer science, telecommunication, aerospace, and electronics engineering. We are organized into different departments divided by areas of knowledge. Our mission is to apply the theoretical knowledge we obtain from our different degrees to a real engineering project, using the most recent technological advances in the whole process to improve and design efficiently. The outcome of this association is the people. STAR trains, from the beginning of university studies, the next generation of outstanding engineers ready to work in the most cutting-edge enterprises of the aerospace sector.

We design and fabricate the whole rocket ourselves. One of the parts is the motor retainer of the rocket. Due to its complex shape, we would like it to be fabricated with SLM. SLM is an additive manufacturing method that uses metallic powders using a laser to create complex 3D parts. SLM offers us design freedom, customization, superior mechanical properties, reduced lead times, and cost-effectiveness. We are already aware of the quality of the products of PCBway, and we would love to have their help to manufacture this part of our rocket.
