Sometimes it's the little things that trip you up and slow you down. When it comes to PCB design, the electronic components are sexier than things like connectors, so they get most of the attention when it comes to things like 2D and 3D footprints.
Of course, when you design your board, you are up the creek without a paddle if you don't have footprints for the connectors you wish to use. In such a case, you have to spend your precious resources creating your own footprints, which is time-consuming, boring, and prone to error to say the least.
Thus, I was delighted to hear that Altium has just released 2D and 3D footprints for a wide range of Rosenberger's board-mount connectors. Altium, of course, created the Altium Designer PCB-FPGA tool.
Rosenberger develops standard and customized connectivity solutions. Its portfolio includes RF connectors, cable assemblies, RF test and measurement devices, automotive products, fiber optics, and custom copper and fiber optic assemblies. Altium offers board design support for more than 150,000 components, which now include Rosenberger's connectors.
