There are several good reasons for cleaning a circuit board: It may be dusty from sitting inside your computer tower for the last four years, you may have just done some soldering and need to clean off the excess rosin flux, or you may be building your own circuit board. Whatever the case, a clean circuit board tends to operate more efficiently than a dirty one. There are several ways to clean circuit boards, but the most popular and easiest method is to use non-water-based alcohol, preferably isopropyl alcohol or shellac thinner, available at most big hardware stores.
Instructions
1 Put on gloves. Fill a container with hot, soapy water. Fill a spray bottle with alcohol.
2 Scrub the board for about 10 seconds with a wet, soft-bristled brush.
3 Rinse the board by spraying it with the alcohol to remove residue.
4 Turn off the lights and examine the board under a black light for contaminants.
5 Repeat the process until the board is clean.
6 Holding the board by the edges, wipe the board down with a lint-free cloth.
7 Dry the board in an oven on a low setting.
