How to Use a Solderless Circuit Board

Solderless circuit boards, also known as breadboards, are an elemental piece of prototype electronic designs. They allow for quick and easy construction of electronic circuits in thousands of possible combinations. Breadboards can help troubleshoot electronic circuits by recreating an existing circuit board, then allowing the designer to modify the layout and see how different layouts function in a working environment. Once a favorable setup is designed, the layout can then be recreated on a more permanent circuit board.

Instructions

1 Insert the electronic components into the breadboard pins. All components that are connected to each other should be connected inside the same section of horizontal pins. If five components are inserted into a single section of horizontal pins, they will all be connected in the same circuit.

2 Insert all microchips into the breadboard vertically and attach all necessary connections. Microchips should never be inserted into the circuit board horizontally, as this would cause all pins on the microchip to be connected together.

3 Document any arrangement of components that creates a functioning circuit. Saving your work in a written electronic schematic will help you recreate the same function in a permanent circuit board that can be soldered into place.
