Summary: An open source multi-channel hand-tracking interface for music, art, and more
Quadrant is a human-computer interface based on an array of distance sensors. The hardware contains 4 time-of flight sensors, aims to detect the position, velocity and orientation of the users' hands in free space. Signal processing techniques are used to recognize gestures and so on and can be mapped to a variety of musical parameters in software. We developed Quadrant as a USB controller to a host computer. This campaign will suuport the development of a fully hackable bootloader and control voltage (CV) output for integration with analog synthesizers.
Quadrant can make computer-produced music, control your DAW, interact with DJ software and play with Max MSP and Pure Data, or think visually for unique VJ control, LED lighting and video synthesizers. Play with gesture recognition, swipe left or right, trigger events with beam crossings and more.
