USB C PCB compatible with the Mx Ergo mouse from Logitech
Order 1.2 thick PCB! Full BOM now included!
This PCB is meant to replace the micro USB port with a USB C port for the Logitech MX Ergo trackball mouse.
The latest revision of the Gerber files now includes the ESD traces and thicker traces for power. See last two photos for gerber file pictures. The PCB is still the same functionally. I had to find substitutes for some components, but I was able to verify that the mouse still charges and still functions as it would untouched. That being said, do this project at your own risk.
I had to measure the components on the OEM board to find values and I had to find substitutes for a few components as the original ones are hard to source using common suppliers like Mouser or Digikey. As of now I fully verified that the included BOM works the same as the OEM but they are different. I was not able to identify the value of FB1 or L1&L2. I resorted to using values that made sense. You will also notice that I was not able to source the same connector that is found on the OEM PCB for the flex cable. The one I found works the same but without the latch.
If you are able to provide any information related to components or issues, please don't hesitate :)
This board can be ordered fully assembled but you can also order this board as a transplant PCB. You will however need to order the USB C port, R4, and R5. I do recommend also ordering SW1 and J1 just in case the original ones get deformed during desoldering. These part numbers can be found in the BOM.
For full installation instructions check out the howtoMXergo text file attached to this project in the assembly section near the other files. In it you will find a link, copy and paste that into your browser for work instructions hosted on instructables.

Yes, SMD components on both sides.
Oh also, it looks from the images as if the PCB requires assembly from both sides whereas the default option in the configurator is from one side, and I'm not sure which option would be the right one to choose for an order.
The board thickness and Assembly side information you mentioned are just the default options on our pricing page, but you can modify them according to the actual situation.
Now we have changed the default parameter for PCB thickness to 1.2mm.
hey there! For a full scope of work needed, check out this write up :) https://www.instructables.com/Converting-the-Logitech-MXERGO-Trackball-Mouse-to-/
I am going to be giving them this file later today!
The assembly folder in the gerber folder has centriod files.
All set. Please try again :)
That is so awesome to hear! I would love to see some pictures of your conversion! I wish I could sell these myself but I just don't even know where to begin there so I figured the next best thing would be to make them orderable through here. Thank you so much for trying it out and leaving feedback :)
I'm lucky to own three functioning ergo's (only one of which I bought) due to some repair work. I was waiting to reply until I'd gone through all three, and have done a proper 'made this' with some updates to the process, plus images on instructables, however it doesn't show up. Please let me know if it needed curation, or is gone due to unknown internet shenanigans (in which case I'll re-type it)
Did you provide them the centroid file for the assembly? Do you have one you can share? I wanted to order some already assembled but I got the message that the centroid file is missing.
The assembly folder in the gerber folder has centriod files.
