A simple digital thermometer made on an 8-bit microcontroller STM8S103F3P6 and a DS18B20 digital temperature sensor.

The night mode is implemented in this thermometer. The device uses a photoresistor and the data from it is sent to the ADC. The logic of the program checks the signal and when a certain threshold of illumination occurs, the brightness of the display decreases by a minimum. But, it should be borne in mind that for an additional decrease in brightness, you need to apply a red light filter or use a film for tinting.

The use of such a filter will help to easily read the readings during the day and at the same time will not interfere with sleeping at night.

The thermometer also has a MENU, you can configure various parameters in it, such as averaging temperature readings, change the brightness of the display for daytime mode, you can change the temperature measurement period, change the display format, and you can also change the threshold for entering night mode and other options.
