Fuse Adapter v1.2
I designed this pcb/pcba in order to be able to use readily-available mini-blade style fuses in my car that didn't use this type of fuse; the car uses a torpedo-style fuse, no longer found in local stores near me (or probably anywhere else). The torpedo fuses were common in 1990-era European cars, which are still popular among enthusiasts but the fuses are harder to find and usually have to be ordered online.
When ordering these pcbs, use the standard thickness, 1.6mm (0.062"), but ensure you select 2oz copper on outer layers! Also, request both the left and right sides to have edge plating where the exposed copper is on the top and bottom.
These pcbs are small, but don't take long to build. Simply install 2 Keystone 3557 mini-blade fuse holders into the pcb with the openings facing each other, and solder in place. Ensure you don't add too much solder as to impede the fuse insertion.
*Tip: install the fuse holders, then install a fuse before soldering to hold them in place, then flip it over and solder the 4 pins, just make sure to not solder the fuse to the holders, trust me, it can happen ;)
Then simply clean the fuse holder of any flux residue, remove the fuse during soldering (if neccessary), install the fuse needed, and insert this PCBA where the torpedo fuse was installed in the vehicle.
I would also highly recommend using some anti-oxidizer compound, such as Gardner Bender OX-100B, to ensure the ends make good contact with the fuse holder clips when the PCBA is installed.
I have pushed 40A through one of these with no ill-effects, besides the Fuse Adapter becoming extremely hot until blowing the fuse. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING ANYTHING HIGHER THAN A 30A. Luckily, I think the highest torpedo fuse is rated at 25A.
