Kortex A1 | Environmental Monitoring
DESCRIPTION
Kortex A1 is an 8-bit MCU based board that can do almost anything that's related with sensing and controlling. It's similar to an Arduino UNO, as it has an ATMEGA328P-AU and LM328/AHSB1 power source switching system that selects between 12VDC and 5VDC when connected both.
It features so many upgrades that will make an Arduino almost useless.First of all, the board has an AMS1117 3.3V regulator that will deliver up to 1A, so we can power up as many devices as we want. On the other hand, we have a Silabs CP2104 USB to serial chip with 4mb/s upload speed that will help you finish your coding upload much faster. On the right side of the board, we can appreciate a TXB0108 logic level converter which is very useful when communicating with 3.3V devices, in this case, we have an ESP8266-7 module and two environmental sensors, one for getting temperature/humidity data and the other for pressure/altitude.
With all these 4 components we can create anything that has to do with environmental monitoring and space exploration.
It's compatible with the Arduino IDE and it works like a normal Arduino UNO, DUE, NANO and all boards that have an Atmega328p-au chip.
ALL IT'S POSSIBLE
I'm 17 years old, and it took me 1 year to learn PCB design, make the actual design, prototypes, and fix the errors. My teacher couldn't help me to fix, so I had to manage to solve all the challenges that had to do with the PCB and schematic design
All this started with our college research project or "TREBALL DE RECERCA" in Catalan. I actually live in Lleida, Spain and I love learning and creating electronics stuff.
You can also check my electronics community website that I recently made:
WHY I'M SHARING THE PROJECT
After 1 year making objectives, today all it's accomplished, the board works like a charm and now I'm developing a new software (using Visual Basic) that will let users control the board and get sensor data without any lines of code, just by connecting the device (board) to a WiFi router.
But the next big challenge/objective I'm facing right now is the manufacturing and distribution of the board. I would like to start a Kickstarter campaign in order to make this dream come true, that's why I need some financial support (my parents can't support me financially anymore :) ), so that's why I entered the contest. If I win, I would use all the money to build more boards and launch an amazing Kickstarter campaign featuring PCBWAY and it's partners.
Stay hungry. Stay foolish
