  • Hello again mutantCybernetics,

Also, would it make sense to have the keycaps 3D printed in TPU?

maybe if you print could print with high details/ small parts.

  • Hello mutantCybernetics,

What would you recommend that I tell PCBWay about the vias?
    They told me:
"Project contain vias in pads W509694AS1C3
we reviewed your project and found there are vias in pads. We advice to fill resin in to those vias to avoid solder paste flow into them while assembly, will this acceptable for you?
What's more, whether you want us to fill all vias or only vias in pads?
Waiting for your confirmation to update the price!"

    They also stated:
"We advice to TEST before ship because there are LEDs(LEDs are sensitive and may can't light up, we will fix this if it can't work). Testing fee would be $75, $10 add up per hour. This fee will be charged after PCBA finished. Plz tell me whether you need this."

I know you've already done a lot of testing (as demonstrated in your videos) so do you feel that the PCBA testing is still warranted?

I realise your build guide is in progress but I wondered whether you planned to make batch orders of the mutantC_v5 from PCBWay?

Whilst I wait and hope for the DragonBox Pyra to become available, I'm currently trying to get a quote for your mutantC_v5 and just having the shell 3D printed at 60% infill in ASA looks like it will come to around $150 (I don't see any point in production at scale...but it looks like it will work out rather more expensive than the Pyra, let alone the Steam Deck!

I don't understand why the text keeps getting cut
    It should read
I don't see any point in selecting a material that performs worse than ASA and ~50% infill was recommended by All3DP

Obviously it's a niche project with swappable CPU (via swapping the compute module) that doesn't yet benefit from production at scale

    Hi, thanks for reaching out.
I admit there are some changes needed to achieve perfect PCBA orders and I'm working on that.
I would recommend to wait for the build guide to be published. If you want to order now, filling the pads only with resin is good enough, and testing the leds is a good practice, if you are comfortable to replace them by yourself then you can skip the testing i guess.
