Wire2Hotend
As I'm modding my Ender, one thing that frustrates me is having to flip the printer over just to get at the wires. And, you end up with wires that are just that little bit too short. Well, I got tired of it, and decided to take matters into my own hands.
The result of this is the Wire2Hotend. Instead of having many cables going to the hotend, you just have one cable, powered by 2 Micro Fit 3.0 connectors. You no longer need long cables, cable length no longer matters!
You can get mounts to mount it to your printer here https://www.printables.com/model/212304-wire2hotend.
4040 Mount
Extruder Mount
Support- up to 70W heaters. 1 Hotend, 2 part cooling fans, 1 heater, support for ender machines. Works with any printer with proper mounts.
You will need to have 2 PCBs for each end. This is not compatible with bowden machines, though a mount can probably be designed, the wonders of open source hardware! The cable has a 3A max, so please mind that while wiring your system. I use a Biqu H2 with a BLTouch, 70w heater, and a whambam mutant, I've had no problems. No configuration changes should be required to work.
Assembly
While assembling, the micro fit connector can NOT be desoldered. I've tried with no luck, so I would suggest doing that first. Then install the JST connectors, doing the row of 3 small 2 pin JSTs 2nd, then the 3 in the middle 3rd. I would suggest installing the terminal block last.
Some notes, shorting the pins/cables will destroy both boards. I've done it many times, you'll fry the traces. I do not suggest using ferrules on the hotend wires because they have to be so thin, and they'll snap, causing thermal runaway.
The micro fit connectors are a very tight fit, please keep in mind that they sometimes won't go 100% in, just push until the clip looks to go over the hump on the female connector.
The wires to the male connector on one side should be the opposite of the other end. My tip would be to flip one side upside down and insert the wires that way.
