"IOAMIGA" Amiga to Iomega ZIP 100
Based on PPAZIP By Bruce Abbott, originally developed in 1998, this is a buffered version of the interface that works a bit better with 30 year old hardware. This interface is designed for use with Amiga 500, 600 & 1200, without interfering with other connectors on the rear of the Amiga the D-Sub 9 to the joystick is mounted on the underside to avoid the cables stopping other ports being used and to ack as a riser when sitting flat on a desk this supports the interface at the right height (almost).
This project consists of both hardware and software - a small interface that connects to the Amiga's parallel and joystick ports, and a driver file which causes the ZIP drive to operate like a standard SCSI device.

These are not available, sorry. I may choose to fully open source this in the future.
It works absolutely perfectly mounted as I pictured above when built using the correct components. What you have done "works" because you have used a male DB9 not a Female DB9, the design is meant to be used with a standard joystick extension cable, to connect it to the joystick port. The reason for that design decision is so the connector isn't in front of the serial port preventing it's use. As long as you got it working that's the main thing, but the error is not in the design or instruction :) might be worth watching the video ... https://youtu.be/OmjO12MW9Nk
Ah, right. My mistake. I saw that a female DB9 was listed in the list of components and i watched the video, but I used a male DB9 because my cable cable has a female DB9 on both ends. Thanks
Hay, the innovation is in solving the problem, the learning is understanding the mistake and why the fix worked :) Out of curiosity where did you get the 9pin female to female cable ? I found that just extensions seemed more common...
I can't remember from where i bought the cable, i have to much stuff :), but there are plenty of them online, in all variants. I built the Adapter years ago on the breadboard, but of course with your PCB it is much better. By the way, i write a (german) Tutorial about this Adapter, for beginners, which will be published in a few Weeks on my Blog (mingos-commodoreblog.blogspot.com), so others hopefully don't make my mistakes :)
I'll add a link on my site and in the video descript_ion once you publish :) would appreciate a link to the video ;)
Here is it: https://mingos-commodoreblog.blogspot.com/2024/07/das-zip-laufwerk-fur-den-amiga.html. With link to this Site and your Video :)
I'm just checking this, there are no surface mount components on the board, so there should be no need for any pick & Place file... I have created an order also, waiting for feedback on that :)
Thanks Andi, my order has now been despatched, so I should get them sometime next week! Thanks for the help!
Excellent news, I'm interested to know/see the results :)
I would love to know the results myself! Unfortunately my A500 has developed a Green screen issue and no longer boots!
Green screen indicates either a chip ram issue or an Agnus fault, what revision Amiga 500 is it?
It's revision 6A! I've got some memory chips coming, hopefully it's that!
