Description:
This project involves the redesign of the ESP-01 microcontroller to integrate FTDI programmer ports directly onto the board. This enhancement simplifies the programming and usage of the ESP-01 modules, making them more accessible for developers and hobbyists alike.
Design Rules:
Track Width: 1.60 mm
Via Diameter: 0.610 mm
Via Drill Hole: 0.305 mm
Routing Angle: 45 Degrees
Clearance: 0.152 mm
Antenna Design:
The original ESP-01 utilizes a meandered inverted-F antenna (MIFA), which was too large for the new 10x40mm board dimensions. After researching various MIFA antennas, i selected the MIFA L-leg antenna as a suitable alternative. This type of antenna, commonly used in older RF modules, operates at 2.4 GHz and fits well within the reduced dimensions of the redesigned PCB.
Auto-Routing:
After arranging the components in EasyEDA, i utilized FreeRouting for the auto-routing process due to its advanced capabilities compared to EasyEDA's built-in router.
