RobôCIn: Autonomous Robotics

RobôCIn, a dedicated Research and Development team in robotics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. Founded in 2015 by a group of passionate students, our team has since grown to include 82 members and 5 faculty advisors. We are united by our shared love for innovation in autonomous robotics and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this field.

Some of our team members

Over the years, we have participated in numerous national and international competitions, achieving significant milestones in the RoboCup Small Size League (SSL). We have evolved from securing third place in 2021 to becoming two-time champions in 2022 and 2023 in Division B. This year, we proudly competed in Division A for the first time, earning a 4th place finish and the "Most Improved Award." Beyond robotics, our team members enjoy collaborating on cutting-edge projects, learning new technologies, and sharing our experiences with the global community.

At RobôCIn, we design, develop, and build our own PCBs and electronic systems, which are the backbone of our innovative robotic platforms. Our work is divided into several categories, each with its own unique challenges and goals:

  • Very Small Size Soccer (VSS): Our autonomous soccer robots compete in this category, where we are the reigning two-time champions of the Latin American Robotics Competition (LARC). These robots are powered by custom-designed PCBs, allowing for precise control and robust performance on the field. Below there’s a image of our robots and one of the PCBs that we made for it.

  • Small Size League (SSL): Competing since 2018, our SSL robots are larger and more complex, requiring advanced PCB designs to manage their sophisticated systems. In this category, we’ve seen tremendous success, including two world championships in Division B and a strong debut in Division A this year. Below there’s a image of our robots and some PCBs that we made for it.

  • Drone: This is our newest category, developed in 2022. Our drones are equipped with PCBs that handle everything from flight control to object detection. We are proud to have already achieved a podium finish in LARC and first place in the Emergency Service Indoor competition at the FIRA RoboWorld Cup, as well as winning the Technical Challenge at FIRA. Below there’s a imagea of our robot.

  • @work: We are now planning to expansion into the @work category, present in RoboCup and RoboCup Brazil. This new challenge focuses on autonomous robots designed for industrial and service tasks. A partnership with PCBWay would be invaluable as we embark on building our robot for this category.

We are committed to transparency and believe that sharing our work with the community is essential for driving progress in robotics. Open collaboration not only accelerates innovation but also fosters a culture of learning and improvement. To this end, we have made portions of our project open source, allowing others to contribute and benefit from our advancements. You can explore our work on GitHub here.

PCBWay, your commitment to fostering innovation and supporting makers worldwide resonates deeply with us. Your services have the potential to significantly enhance our projects, allowing us to push the limits of what we can achieve in autonomous robotics. We are excited about the possibility of partnering with PCBWay to further our mission and share our success stories with your vibrant community.
